So, this day marks the start of my ultimate test of control. I will be on a strict vegetable and fruit juice fast for the next 30-60 days. I included a range just in case I crack at some point after a month, but it will be a month for sure. I promised Sameer which is why he bought me a juicer for it too. Thanks Husband, I won’t go back on my word! :)

There isn’t a diet in the world that I haven’t tried. Ok that’s a stretch, but I really feel like I have done everything to lose weight (pills, starvation (only for an hour maybe), stopped eating something here and there) and somehow, I would come right back to stuffing my face with whatever I can find – easily find or cook! I would do atkins (of course before a wedding or event so clothes would fit me) and gain the weight right back as soon as I started eating carbs again. I ate salads and more proteins and good carbs like fruits and it would take one day, like a party, a dinner or a happening to throw me off the track once again. Or Sameer and I both being gigantormous foodies, would cook amazing food at home or eat out at least 2-3 times a week when I would come home late from work and be too tired to cook amazing food. Did I mention I’ve was also the pudgy, fat kid in the family? Yup, that was me as well. So losing weight has been a struggle for me for my entire life!

I just sighed while writing this.

So, last week, Sameer and I saw a documentary called “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” by Joe Cross. Truly insipiring documentary, first of all. Joe goes on a 60-day juice fast where all he drank was fresh vegetable and fruit juices all day, every day for 2 whole months. Seeing the transformation Joe and some of the other people went through with just drinking the most healthiest juices, they lost weight and were able to kick their pills (they were on plenty for their own reasons and conditions!).

I know we all watch documentaries and are shocked, intrigued and our minds open up a little more with each one. However, this particular one, really hit home for me and I took it on as a challenge to myself, to be able to see, once and for all, a healthy, happy Sammy.

I’ll be blogging frequently about my Juicing Journey so please keep checking back to our blog. I’ll post some recipes, etc. as well for anyone that wants to start juicing or just wants to try something different.
